November 15, 2022 - November 17, 2022

6:00PM-8:00PM

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) invites you to participate in the Missing Maps mapathons with colleagues and supporters from around the world. These events are a part of Open Street Map’s Geography Awareness Week (aka OSM Geo Week), during which a global coalition of partners, community groups, and map lovers will join together to celebrate geography and contribute to MSF's humanitarian work in the field!

During these events, volunteers will be mapping areas of the Katanga province of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where MSF teams are responding to a large outbreak of measles in the region. Having updated maps of the area will allow our teams to conduct accurate epidemiological surveillance and successful vaccination campaigns.

A special initiative founded by Doctors Without Borders, the American Red Cross, the British Red Cross, and the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team, Missing Maps is powered by volunteers around the world. Using OpenStreetMap, an open, free, and crowd-sourced platform, volunteers map underserved regions in order to provide international and local NGOs and individuals with geographic data to better respond to crises.
