Qusay Hussein, MSW
Qusay Hussein, MSW, is a doctoral student and motivational speaker. In 2006, he was a victim of a suicide bomb in Mosul, Iraq where he suffered multiple injuries and lost his sight. In 2010, Qusay went to Jordan to seek medical treatment and while he was recovering, he had an opportunity to serve as a patient counselor for MSF. In 2012, Qusay resettled as a refugee in the United States. He holds dual bachelor’s degrees in psychology and social work and a master’s degree in social work from University of Texas at Austin. He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in social work, where his research focuses on the migration experiences of refugees with disabilities. Since 2022, Qusay has served as a member of the DEI Council for MSF USA. Qusay is also a mentor and provides interpretation at a local refugee resettlement agency for newly arrived refugees.
